Our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed, team oriented unit that cares for a variety of cardiac patients, including; patients post open heart surgery (ARRMC averages 500 open heart surgeries per year), post stent placement, post MI, and patients with heart failure and/or cardiogenic shock. We also care for patients with balloon pumps, post cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management, and on occasion, with ventricular assist devices. We have also recently started a TAVR program. Our RN to patient ratios are 1:1 - 1:2, depending on acuity and our average daily census is 12.
*Our CCU achieved Beacon Gold Award Designation in 2013 and 2016*
For patients and their families, the Beacon Award signifies exceptional care through improved outcomes and greater overall satisfaction. For critical care nurses, a Beacon Award can mean a positive and supportive work environment with greater collaboration between colleagues and leaders, higher morale and lower turnover.
