Support Tech 1 Service Desk Position Overview

This is an entry level position in the Information Technology Services department. The Support Tech 1 is responsible for support of end-user facing ITS supported hardware and software, following prescribed procedures under direct supervision, and assisting with installation and implementation as directed by more senior technical resources and ITS leadership. This position requires an entry-level understanding of the PC, laptop, and printer hardware, network connectivity, PC software and clinical software. The position may be required to work varying shifts at a variety of locations, and may include on-call work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

College coursework or professional training in information systems, information technology, or technical support required

Associate's degree in a related field, preferred

Experience

1 year in an IT or IS environment required

Experience providing direct user support in a healthcare technology environment, preferred

Licensure

One of the following, or other computer-related certifications are preferred: A+, MCP, HDI CSS, or HDI SCI

Skills

Proven phone and customer service skills

Skilled in both the use and support of Microsoft Windows and user management environments

Skilled at troubleshooting, triage and escalation, and problem resolution

Ability to solve problems and prioritize customer requests even with multiple interruptions

Flexible in work schedules to meet the demands of the department

Ability to process incidents, follow up on open requests, and make effective determinations based on information provided

Strong organizational skills

Excellent interpersonal skills to represent the ITS Department to internal and external customers in professional, positive manner

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Courteous, patient demeanor
