Stroke Program Coordinator Position Overview

The Stroke Program Coordinator plans, develops, organizes, coordinates and facilitates the activities of the hospital's care for the stroke patient population - which includes education, patient care, problem identification, quality assurance, public relations, hospital-wide standards, statistical data collection and other related responsibilities.

As a Stroke Program Coordinator at Asante, you will have the opportunity to:

Coordinate the activities to care for the stroke population throughout Asante

Demonstrate nursing excellence in practice through self-directed behavior using critical thinking

Participate in education and Performance Improvement activities to provide a quality service and keep current with industry changes

Provide a leadership role in obtaining Stroke Certification

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required

Master's degree in nursing or other healthcare related areas (MSN, MHA, MBA), preferred

Experience

Minimum of 5 years recent clinical experience is required

Experience in area of specialty or a minimum of 2 years clinical management/supervisory experience is required

Demonstrated foundational knowledge of stroke mechanism, Brain Attack coalition guidelines, American Heart and American Stroke Association guidelines for care of stroke patients including how to prevent, how to recognize and rehab potentials also required

Working knowledge and skill of neuroscience nursing with an emphasis on the stroke patient, preferred

Advanced knowledge of stroke mechanism and practice guidelines, preferred

Licensure/Certifications

Current Oregon licensure as an RN or Allied Health Provider is required

Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) certified by American Heart Association (AHA) is required

Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN), preferred

Demonstrated program coordination skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to provide patient and community education

Strong organizational, decision-making and problem solving skills

Ability to work independently while functioning effectively in a teamwork-based environment with co-workers, patients, families and health professionals
