Epic Ambulatory Specialist Position Overview

The EPIC Ambulatory Specialist is responsible for training, designing and development of education material for EPIC Ambulatory processes in practice sites to ensure maximization of utilization. This includes day to day oversight of user end training, upgrade education, coaching and problem solving. The EPIC Ambulatory Specialist will ensure the efficiency, accuracy, and staff competencies of EPIC Ambulatory use within multi-practice clinic setting.

As an Epic Ambulatory Specialist at Asante, you will have the opportunity to:

Assess employee learning needs and design material accordingly using a variety of tools and data courses to identify and understand employees training needs such as surveys, information interviews, focus groups and a review of existing resource materials

Implement training/education solutions, manage overall training projects and provide training/coaching

Collect data and reports on the overall effectiveness of the learning experience and report on effectiveness of training solutions

Communicate information from users, project stakeholders and vendors on product features and future development

Work with Epic representatives, application coordinators and end users to ensure applications meet organizations needs



Bachelors Degree in IT, Education or related field, or the equivalent combination education and experience (in lieu of a degree) is required

Masters degree in IT, Education or related field, preferred


Minimum 3 years of healthcare related experience in the area(s) of direct patient care, medical records, patient registration, scheduling, claims and/or information technology within a hospital or clinic - or the equivalent in education and experience is required

Excellent knowledge of adult training methods and training plan design required

Working knowledge of MS Office required

3 or more years EPIC Ambulatory Training in a medical setting that is an integrated health care system, preferred

Experience in increasingly responsible, enterprise level, complex business analysis and system development roles, preferred


Current Oregon Driver's license, proof of insurance and a safe driving record is required

Current EPIC certification, preferred

Skills and Abilities

Ability to take complicated information and explain in simple terms

Thorough understanding of EMR information as related to the success of an organization

Ability to trouble-shoot problems with a "can do" attitude

Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people and communicate effectively

Strong written and verbal communication skills and great customer service skills
