Manager Finance/Healthcare Cost Accounting Position Overview

The Manager for Finance/Healthcare Cost Accounting provides analytical support to management in the definition and analysis of issues facing. This position assists management in choosing between alternatives and monitoring implementation of strategic and operational plans to meet Asante's strategic goals, while educating management on the effects of these issues and alternatives on Asante. This role assesses Asante's information needs vs. capabilities and limitations of our current systems, and organizes and manages the decision support department to support analysis on a wide range of financial, operational, clinical and marketing topics, and budgets.

As a Manager for Finance/Healthcare Cost Accounting at Asante, you will have the opportunity to:

Supervise, train and develop decision support staff, and educate and train Asante personnel from other departments on the use and interpretation of various decision support information, reporting and systems.

Participate in hospital operations team meetings, financial close, yearly budgeting, auditing and the strategic planning process.

Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the operating and capital budgets and evaluate budget systems making recommendations and changes as appropriate to improve the efficiency of the budget process and information available to management.

Create budget processes that incentivize lean behavior and drive resource allocations that support Asante's strategic priorities.



Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, decision science, statistics, mathematics or other related field required

Master's degree or equivalent, preferred


Minimum of 5 years decision support, financial analysis or cost accounting experience required

Experienced with external benchmarking systems required

2 or more years experience in a healthcare-related environment and/or working with healthcare industry clients, preferred

Experience with the TSI decision support system preferred

Knowledge of health care reimbursement, preferred

Experience with contract negotiations and analysis techniques, preferred

Experience with SMS Med Series 4, preferred


Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed by Oregon Board of Accountancy, preferred

Required Skills and Abilities

Ability to work logically through complex problems involving operational, contracting, general accounting, cost accounting, auditing, data collection, data extracting and computer system and processing issues

Proficient in at least one relational database, Query / SQL logic

Strong project management skills

Excellent understanding of financial analysis techniques

Ability to work independently after discussing projects and their scope with supervisor and/or management

Ability to balance multiple high level priorities

Comfort with learning new computer systems

Excellent verbal, written and graphic presentation skills

Comfortable with developing and conducting training classes on the uses of a wide range of software packages and the development of an analytical mind set in Asante personnel
