Emergency Services Tech I Opportunity Overview

The Emergency Services Tech I is responsible for quick reaction and competent care of patients with emergency situations that arrive at the hospital. Provides care at the direction of the RN or MD and works as a team member to help promote the functioning of Emergency Services. The Emergency Services Tech I must have critical thinking skills and prioritize quickly.

As a Emergency Services Tech I in the Emergency Room, you will have the opportunity to:

Provide patient care based on psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age specific needs under the direct supervision an RN, PA or NP.

Monitor patient parameters as delegated, and reports abnormalities, changes, or concerns to the appropriate staff member

Perform psychiatric standbys and transport patients as directed

Apply splints, irrigate and dress wounds

Ensure patient rooms are clean and fully stocked

Assist with procedures: suture, pelvic, cautery

Perform EKGs, take vital signs and CBS (blood sugar checks)

Required Skills

Ability to self motivate, interpret, prioritize, communicate and problem solve issues within a rapidly changing environment

Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adjust workload or duties in response to a change in work volume, emergencies, staffing or scheduling.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT or I) certified by Oregon Department of Human Services or Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) required

Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by American Heart Association (AHA) required

Experience

Previous work or training in the medical field required

Previous medical experience in acute care setting or pre hospital setting preferred
