Ambulatory Coding Supervisor-APP
The Ambulatory Coding Supervisor for Asante Physician Partners (APP) is responsible for performing prospective and retrospective coding audits, including review of the quality of medical record and billing documentation relating to inpatient and outpatient professional fee charges. and HCC Coding. Based upon findings, prepares training materials and conducts one-on-one and/or group training around accurate diagnosis and procedural coding to coders, billers, providers and any other staff involved in coding activities. This position will also include supervisory responsibilities including the hiring, training, and supervision of auditors, and monitoring and evaluation of auditor productivity and performance. Additional duties include serving as a resource to all personnel involved in any aspect of CPT/HCPCS and HCC coding to obtain information or clarification on accurate and ethical coding and documentation standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Position will serve as a resource to the Revenue Cycle Department for coders engaged in day to day coding activity.
Bachelors degree or equivalent in education and work experience; required
Three to five years coding experience in ambulatory care environment is required
Current working knowledge medical coding including but not limited to E/M, ICD 10, CPT and HCC coding and other coding related regulatory standards requirements; required
2 years of management or supervisory experience; required
Expertise in CMS Risk Adjustment Processing System (RAPS) for Medicare Advantage Plans; preferred
Active coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA; required
Certification in HCC coding such as CRC, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of employment
Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and knowledge of adult learning principles.
Ability to present complex data in easily understandable format within group or one on one environment.
Strong organizational skills, customer service skills and attention to detail.
Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, managers and other members of the health care team.
Ability to direct and facilitate work and process improvement team activities.
Good prioritization and decision-making skills.
Able to independently conduct regulatory and coding clinic guidance research and follow-through with education of coding staff.
Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
Confident in communication with providers for discussion of diagnoses and risk adjustment coding.
