Cook Position Overview
The Cook performs a variety of duties related to cooking and preparing of short order food items. This may also include preparing regular and modified diet items for patients, the cafeteria, and catering. In this role, the Cook prepares food set forth for tray-line, cafeteria, and catering to meet HASAP and quality guidelines and serves food using standard menus and production sheets, with the appropriate sauces and garnishes and at their proper temperatures and times.

High school diploma or equivalent is required
Five years cooking/baking experience in restaurant or institution is required
o For internal candidates, will consider advancement from within with less experience
Knowledge of modified diets, preferred
Experience in a health care environment, preferred
Menu planning, supplies purchasing, short order food preparation
Ability to follow a recipe in detail and taste to determine a component of quality
Ability to work as part of a team and to interact with the public in a professional and friendly manner
Oregon Food Handler Card issued by an agency approved by Oregon Department of Health or a valid food manager training certificate is required
Working Environment / Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to perform a wide range of physical tasks including the ability to push up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis and on rare occasions lift up to 50 pounds. To be placed in this position, applicants must pass a physical functional screening test.
