Patient Registration Supervisor
The Patient Registration Supervisor oversees the daily operations and work activities in the department to ensure quality service and accurate, timely completion of one or more of the following functions: registration; insurance verification; up front collections, and insurance authorizations. The Supervisor works with the Manager in preparation of policies and procedures and with personnel recruitment and staff development; communicates effectively with staff, visitors and patients; participates in training and education of staff, helps develop comprehensive education and training for the department and helps create a vision for efficient and effective patient access services for the future. Education: Two-year degree in business, healthcare or related field, or equivalent combination of relevant post secondary education and/or 4-5 years relevant experience is required. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare or related field is preferred.
Experience: Three to five years registration experience with 1-3 years in supervisory / leadership capacity is required. Other requirements include computer proficiency and data management experience; the ability to prioritize workload and effectively problem-solve; budgetary knowledge and skills; the ability to develop and provide training for staff in response to ongoing regulatory changes, new software applications, etc.
Preferred qualifications include direct supervisory experience; experience in an acute care patient registration and/or emergency department setting; excellent interpersonal skills for performing supervisory responsibilities; comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the registration process; participation in interdepartmental committees and teams; detailed in work process definition for maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.
