LPN - AACH
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
This position is for an LPN at Asante Ashland Community Hospital (AACH). The AACH Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides an environment wherein adult medical and surgical patients requiring intensive care can frequently be assessed, monitored, and receive special therapy. In addition, the ICU provides services for patients who require an increased intensity of nursing care and/or patients who require an increased level of surveillance.
The Intensive Care Unit at AACH is a 4 bed multi-specialty unit with an increasing line of services to include tele-intensivist consultation. AACH maintains a hospitalist staff onboard at all times, who works with the critical care nursing team to manage patients in the ICU as appropriate.
As an LPN in the Intensive Care Unit at Asante, you will have the opportunity to:
Work collaboratively one on one with the experienced RN to help increase your skill level and your practice
Assist the RN and/or physician with various procedures carried out in the Intensive Care Unit
Have the opportunity to cross-train and float to other departments of the hospital
With RN mentoring, increase critical thinking skills, respond to acute patient changes, take care of complex patients in the acute care setting
Successful completion of an accredited LPN program required
Basic EKG and cardiac rhythm knowledge preferred or willingness to complete competency within first 3 months of hire.
Experience in an acute patient care environment preferred
No ICU experience necessary
Leadership experience preferred
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing required
Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
ACLS required - or willingness to obtain within first 6 months of hire
Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate relationship-based patient and family nursing care while synthesizing symptoms, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age specific needs under the direct supervision of a registered nurse
Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and effective problem solving abilities when utilizing the nursing process in the implementation of patient care to the top of your license
Collect and communicate data obtained from nursing assessments, reports, and rounds appropriately to other health care team members
Appropriately carry out independent and delegated tasks in collaboration with the overseeing RN and multi-disciplinary patient care team
