The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in delivery of comprehensive pharmaceutical care under the supervision of the Pharmacist according to federal and Oregon state laws and department regulations. This position may work various shifts and in different facilities as needed.

Specific duties may include preparing medications for dispensing; distributing medications to patients in a safe and timely manner; obtaining information for use by the Pharmacist to enhance patient care (information obtained includes patient demographics, lab results and narcotics reconciliation); and participating in pharmacy or health care related organizations and activities.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Pharmacy Technician Community College course work is preferred.

Experience: One year experience or equivalent education is required. 3 or more years of similar job experience, preferred.

Licensure/Certifications: Certified Oregon Pharmacy Technician (CPT) by the Oregon Board of Pharmacy is required. One of the following is also required: Certified Oregon Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Other required qualifications include having basic math skills; the ability to prioritize multiple functions; manual dexterity; excellent interpersonal skills to represent departments to the public and internal customers; the ability to handle stress of busy daily operations while maintaining a professional attitude; and general knowledge and understanding of the Oregon Board of Pharmacy regulations.

Good computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets; 10-Key proficiency; typing at 40 wpm; and general knowledge and understanding of DNV standards if applicable is preferred.
