Chaplain Position Overview
The Chaplains are professionally trained spiritual care providers who provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and staff during their time in the hospital and/or hospice setting. Chaplains are also spiritual specialists who conduct spiritual assessments to determine if a patient is in spiritual distress, create a spiritual plan of care, and chart this information for the treatment team.
As the Chaplain at Asante you will have the opportunity to:
Offer spiritual support, spiritual counsel and comfort as part of total holistic care.
Provide prayer and ritual support for patients/families that request it
Use your skills to help individuals find meaning, purpose and connection in their lives, as well as spiritual histories to determine the importance of the patient's religious practices and faith community connection
Provide guidance and development to departmental volunteers and may assist with training.
Bachelors-level theological degree from a school accredited by the Association of Theological Schools or one of the regional Association of Colleges and Schools (www.chea.org)
Minimun two units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education
In leiu of Bachelors, an additional 3 years of healthcare spiritual care related experience may be considered in place of the bachelors degree.
Minimum 2 years of spiritual care experience.
Spiritual care experience in a medical/ multicultural settings preferred
Bilingual in English/Spanish also preferred
Ability to process information and to problem-solve individually and within a team setting
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks appropriately and to manage time well
Flexibility with scheduling along with the ability to provide treatment to patients on weekend assignments
Strong knowledge of office procedures and business
Ability to make decisions independently and in accordance with established policies
Exceptional customer service skills, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality appropriate for a large corporate environment
Strong organizational skills, with close attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, and Word.
