Endoscopy Tech Position Opportunity Overview

The Endoscopy Tech for Asante Three Rivers Medical Center (ATRMC) assists the physician in the performance of therapeutic and diagnostic Endoscopic procedures and is also responsible for the equipment, preparation of the patient prior to the procedure, assisting in the monitoring of the patient during the procedure, and evaluation of the patient prior to the transfer to the recovery area.

As an Endoscopy Tech you will have the opportunity to:

Perform endoscopic therapeutic and diagnostic procedures according to departmental standards and protocols

Assist the physician's with the procedure, collecting specimens and processing according to policy

Ensure that the equipment is set-up correctly and is functioning properly before procedure begins and trouble shoot problems effectively during the procedure if needed

Ensure that the equipment is cleaned and reprocessed according to departmental standards

Maintain skills to provide a quality service and keep current with the industry

Communicate pertinent information concerning the procedure to the appropriate staff and physician's

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

Two years previous experience in health care (CNA, EMT, Medical Assistant, Phleb, Surgical Aide, Surgery Tech, Anesthesia tech, or equivalent) is required

Experience with electronic medical records required or recent computer coursework is required

1 year experience doing Endoscopy procedures; graduate of 1-2 year school of nursing; experience working with a Gastroenterologist doing Endoscopy procedures; experience working in a recovery room is preferred

Certifications/Licenses

Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start

Skills and Abilities

Ability to work in a team environment

Knowledge, skill and ability in positioning sedated patients

Knowledge, skill and ability in decontamination AND disinfection

Demonstrated ability to function with aseptic knowledge

Ability to speak, read, write legibly, follow verbal or written instructions and perform basic math

Computer proficiency (word spreadsheet, data base, e-mail and EPIC)
