Clinical Manager - Surgical Services Position Overview

At Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center (ARRMC), we have a state of the art surgical department with 15 OR suites, including 2 dedicated cardiac surgery suites and a hybrid operating room. On average, there are 10,000 cases performed each year at ARRMC, in a variety of specialties: general/vascular, neurosurgery, total joint/orthopedics, bariatric surgery, trauma, gyn, ENT, plastics, urology and cardiothoracic surgery. ARRMC is a very progressive surgical hospital. In addition to performing robotic urological, gynecologic and general surgery, ARRMC was the first hospital in the state to employ the use of the Mazor neurosurgical robot. In addition, ARRMC was one of the first hospitals in Oregon to perform transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and is recognized as among the top cardiac surgery hospitals in the West. ARRMC serves as the regional referral center for nine counties and is currently pursuing Level II Trauma designation from the State of Oregon.

The Clinical Manager of Surgical Services provides leadership to the Operating Room and the PACU at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. The primary purpose of the position is to coordinate available resources, manage and guide the strategic direction of the department, and assure accountability of health care professionals to support delivery of superb health care services. The areas of responsibility include human resource management, development of department policies and procedures and financial performance.

As a Clinical Manager of Surgical Services, you will have the opportunity to:

Participate in quality improvement projects to identify and continually improve performance

Create a culture that fosters staff self-development and continued learning, ensuring the competence of all staff is assessed, maintained, demonstrated and improved continually

Encourage feedback from internal and external customers, including patients/families, to monitor service effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement of work processes, and ensure that customer needs are met

Develop an annual operating budget and capital expenditure plan, including a mechanism to monitor plan implementation and outcomes; and assists in maintaining Asante's profitability through innovative and diligent application of sound resource management principles



Bachelor's degree in Nursing required


Three or more years progressive leadership / supervisory nursing experience required

Two or more years recent Operating Room experience required

Recent Operating Room management or leadership experience preferred

License / Certification

Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) required

Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) required

ACLS, CNOR preferred

Required Skills

Proficiency with the complete PI cycle along with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Ability to prioritize multiple projects, acting as a positive role model and change agent

Successful complex problem solving abilities

Competency with fiscal management

Proficiency in computers and related software applications

Ability to effectively hold staff accountable in effort of achieving optimal efficiencies and patient care outcomes

Experience working with physicians/good physician relations preferred

Knowledge of AORN recommended practices and DNV/CMS Standards preferred
