Medical Technologist - ACH
Asante Ashland Community Hospital, located in Ashland, Oregon, is a 49-bed community hospital that features a birthing center, surgery center, diagnostic imaging, a laboratory, respiratory testing and surgery. Outpatient services include internal medicine, home health and hospice care, wound care, and hyperbaric medicine. Founded in 1907, the hospital has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of the community and the changing demands of healthcare. The Medical Technologist performs clinical laboratory tests and procedures and interprets and reports test results accurately to assist physicians with diagnosis and treatment.
Education: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics, AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program within the last 5 years or additional experience accepted in lieu of Bachelor's degree for grandfathered MT's certified by ASCP.
Experience: None outside of licensure is required. Computer skills preferred.
Licensure/Certifications: One of the following is required:
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certified by the ASCP Board of Certification or equivalent (MT by AMT)
Eligibility for Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP) certification exam at time of hire, with successful completion of MLS (ASCP) certification exam within 6 months of hire
Other required qualifications include the ability to organize tasks and workflow effectively; good attention to detail; good judgment, decision making, problem solving and communications skills; and the ability to communicate collaboratively with co-workers to enhance daily workflow.
