Informatics Specialist (Clinical Informatics Training)

Additional Position Details: This position will be for Asante's outpatient team and responsible for clinic rounding as well as assisting support of Epic and other clinical applications.

Position Summary

The Informatics Specialist is responsible for promoting the understanding, integration and application of information technology tools in healthcare settings. This includes day-to-day oversight of end user training, upgrade education, coaching, and problem solving. The Informatics Specialists analyzes, designs, develops, tests, implements and provides ongoing support of assigned system applications (i.e. Epic, Dragon, and Halo). The Informatics Specialist acts as a liaison between clinical care and information technology, supporting all care givers in the implementation, learning, use, adoption and optimization of clinical technologies.

Please Note: For this role, driving between locations is required. Rotation on a call schedule may also be required.

As an Informatics Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Coordinate and work with Epic representatives, application coordinators, and end users to ensure applications meet organizational and end user needs
  • Implement training/education solutions and manage overall training projects and provide training/coaching
  • Assesses end users learning needs, and designs materials accordingly, and presents those learning solutions in a manner that both engages the learner and produces desired outcomes
  • Document internal procedures to use in conjunction with Epic and other assigned applications including developing and maintaining end user training material on clinical applications; and assisting with the design and updating of resources on company intranet to assist end users
  • Work with the software and systems to include analyzing, preparing, and monitoring requested enhancements and new releases; evaluating and examining information regarding potential system enhancements; and instructing providers on system functions and interfaces

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent in education and/or experience, is required
  • Must obtain Epic Proficiency within 6 months of hire

Experience

  • 3 years of education related experience or 3 years of healthcare related experience in the area(s) of direct patient care, medical records, patient registration, scheduling, claims and/or information technology within a hospital or clinic or the equivalent of education and experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Must be comfortable training in both group settings and one-on-one (with end users)

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid Driver's License with proof of safe driving record for the past ten years and proof of auto insurance is required
