Position Summary

The Laboratory Informaticist acts as a liaison between the clinical departments and IT. They apply clinical knowledge of the laboratory process, laboratory protocols, patient care delivery standards and clinical best practices across project management to ensure achievement of evidence-based, superior patient care. They collaboratively coordinate and lead clinical content development and maintenance within clinical applications, effectively communicating to all project participants and stakeholders. They apply knowledge of the functional aspects of application systems and clinical workflows to optimize user efficiency, utilizing data to optimize patient care. The Lab Informaticist will provide education and training support in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science or related field, or equivalent in education and experience, is required

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years recent laboratory experience in an acute care or similar environment, or equitable informatics experience, is required
  • Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required

Licensure/Certifications

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP), or Equivalent certification (AMT, NCA, or military) required upon start
  • Minimum of one relevant Epic proficiency or certification within six months of hire
