Position Summary

The Cardiac Rehab Exercise Specialist is responsible for exercise prescription for the cardiac patient and monitoring the patient's response to exercise and recovery as outlined by the cardiac rehab staff and clinical guidelines. Additional responsibilities include cardiac telemetry monitoring, clerical duties, data collection, insurance verification, equipment maintenance, and supplies requisition. This role requires working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to promote behavioral changes in the cardiac population.

The ideal candidate will have a positive, outgoing, and confident personality along with experience in exercise physiology and knowledge of how to do exercise prescriptions.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science or allied health career with a focus in fitness and wellness is required - OR - may consider equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • Successful completion of, or the ability to pass, Asante's Basic Cardiac Rhythms course exam within 4 months of hire

Experience

  • At least 6 months experience in personal fitness training, leading adult exercise classes, developing and implementing adult fitness protocols, is required

Certifications

  • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start
