Additional Position Details: FTE: 1.000000 | Full Time | 1st Shift - Days

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. However, the person in this role is the closer and is expected to stay until all patients are finished with their appointments and so there may be times where working later than 6:00pm is necessary.

This position also pays an extra shift differential on top of the hourly wage for those hours from 3:00pm until closing.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Patient Service Rep (PSR) performs a variety of support functions for a department and/or program. Duties may include all or part of the following: Greeting, instructing, directing patients and visitors; scheduling, registering, and obtaining preauthorization for treatment from insurance, Medicare or other agencies for patients; serving as liaison between patient and medical support staff; functioning as cashier, receptionist and referral clerk as well as maintaining records and completing data entry; and monitoring office services and supplies.

As a Patient Service Rep for Radiation Oncology, you will have the opportunity to:

• Greet and interview outpatients and/or family members for pertinent information
• Confirm time of exam and inform patient of any delays
• Maintain confidentiality, privacy, and dignity of all clients using maximum discretion in handling work-related information
• Place orders for exams through Radiology Information System (RIS) and check that all information on the order is correct, including verification of ICD-9 and necessary CPT codes
• Schedule appointments for all of Diagnostic Imaging to include obtaining complete history, prior studies and pertinent information regarding exam; requesting required labs, reports and comparison films; and accurately scheduling outpatient exams on each department's daily schedule
• Demonstrate flexibility with regard to changes in work volume, emergencies, staffing and scheduling

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as required for the position is required

Experience

• Previous clerical/administrative experience, or previous clinical or hospital experience, is required
