Doulas at Asante are paid both at an hourly rate (used for training, meetings, etc.) which is based on qualifications and years of relevant experience. There is also a separate flat rate of $484.50 per assigned Doula shift (regardless of experience or length of shift).


Position Summary

Asante Ashland Community Hospital (AACH), located in Ashland, Oregon, is a 49-bed community hospital that features a birthing center, surgery center, diagnostic imaging, a laboratory, respiratory testing, and surgery. Outpatient services include internal medicine, home health, wound care, and hyperbaric medicine. Founded in 1907, the hospital has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of the community and the changing demands of healthcare.

At AACH, the Doula is responsible for providing continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother before, during and just after the childbirth experience. The Doula is part of a group that is available to patients as needed for support.

As a Doula for Asante, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with established standards, federal and state regulations, accreditation standards and Asante's mission, vision, and values.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital and department policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Work as a team player at all levels and supports hospital administration, management, and staff demonstrating excellent interpersonal and customer services skills.
  • Support and promote infection control program, safety program, risk management program, staff development and education program and other organizational initiatives.
  • Interact in a kind, compassionate, and professional manner, in keeping with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Asante.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Prior experience attending births is required

Certifications

  • BLS : Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start

ONE of the following Doula Certifications is required:

  • Birth Doula Certification by DONA International
  • Certified Professional Birth Doula by to Labor International
  • Full Circle Doula Training Certification by the International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC)
  • Doula Certification from the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA)
  • Certified Professional Labor Doula by ProDoula
  • Birth & Bereavement certification by Stillbirthday University
  • Birth Doula certified by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA)
  • THW (Traditional Health Worker) by the OHA with completion of Doula Approved Course by the OHA
