Additional Position Details: FTE: 0.600000 = 24 hours per week = Part Time | 3rd Shift - Nights

Salary: $20.53 and up, depending on years of relevant experience.

As a Monitor Tech at Asante, you will also make extra money per hour (shift differentials) when working night, swing, and weekend hours:

  • $2.15 extra per hour between 11:00pm and 7:00am (Nights)
  • $1.27 extra per hour between 3:00pm and 11:00pm (Swing Shift)
  • $1.10 extra per hour for weekend shifts

Position Summary

The Monitor Tech is responsible for monitoring, documenting and interpreting cardiac rhythms and/or hemodynamic lines for assigned patients on the unit under the direction of the RN, LPN, Physician or Physician Assistant. Related responsibilities include documenting and reporting EKG abnormalities, changes or concerns to the appropriate staff member.

This is a highly administrative position in a fast-paced environment and responsibilities may include the unit's clerical duties, transcription of orders, communication of information, and requisition of supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience demonstrating ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position is required
  • Successful Completion of a Basic Cardiac Rhythms course and/or the ability to pass Asante's Basic Cardiac Rhythms test is required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (through education or experience in a health care setting), preferred
  • Successful completion of an Advanced Cardiac Rhythms course, preferred

PLEASE NOTE: As indicated in the Education requirements noted above, this position requires successful completion of a basic cardiac rhythms course and/or the ability to pass Asante's Basic Cardiac Rhythms test in order to qualify for the position and be forwarded for consideration. Applicants that have not taken the course through Asante will be asked to "challenge" Asante's test.

Experience

  • No previous experience as a Monitor Tech is required, however clerical, reception or other healthcare-related experience is highly preferred
  • One year or more of telemetry monitoring and/or EMT experience is also preferred

Certifications

  • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA), preferred

Required Skills

  • Computer and typing skills
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to react calmly in emergency situations
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients
  • Flexibility in arranging work schedule, preferred

Working Environment

  • Most shifts are 10 - 12 hours (depending on the unit) and will include long periods of sitting, watching monitors and working on a computer.
