Position Summary

The Transfer/Admit Center Nurse works as part of a high functioning team coordinating the assignment of patient admissions and performs initial admission screening using approved clinical guidelines to ensure patient admissions and bed assignments are consistent with current policy and procedure. The successful incumbent will also work in collaboration with multiple departments within the hospital and participates in bed management meetings with hospital staff. Other responsibilities will include identifying and communicating bed utilization issues in addition to identifying and reporting barriers to patient transfers and admissions efficiency.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related field, or the equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 2 years clinical nursing experience demonstrating knowledge of nursing process, patient flow, and coordination with multiple departments is required.

Licensure/Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing required upon start.
  • Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) certified by the American Heart Associate (AHA) required upon start.

Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to prioritize job responsibilities and organize workload.
  • Effectively communicate information related to system, departmental, and patient processes.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in workload adjustments and volume.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment with healthcare professionals and departments, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively represent department to the public and interact with fellow team members, nursing/physician/ancillary staff, third-party payors, and patients/families.
  • Project management skills; technical support with computer skills; critical thinking; leadership attributes; problem solving skills; ability to gather data and report on findings, preferred.

  • Progressive nursing pay.
  • An additional 15% on top of the base hourly rate (if not an employee already in a benefited position).
