Additional Position Details: FTE: 1.0 | Full Time | Primarily Mon - Fri / 8AM - 5PM | Shifts: Either 4 (10s) or 5 (8s) - This position is for the inpatient team

Position Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides treatment to a variety of patients including dysphagia, stroke, neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and voice while working closely with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate best outcomes. The SLP also provides weekend and holiday services to hospital patients on a rotating schedule. Training will be provided to SLP's who are not familiar with the inpatient setting.

This hospital-based position includes caring for patients in all areas of the hospital including ICU and IMCU. Dysphagia instruments performed by the SLP team includes Modified Barium Swallow studies and FEES.

Qualifications

Education

• Master's degree from an SLP program or equivalent is required.

Experience

• None outside of licensure required.
• CF candidates cannot be considered at this time.

Required Licensure/Certifications

• SLP: Speech Language Pathologist licensed by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology required upon start.
  • • OR - a temporary SLP license issued by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology (SLP-Temp) will be accepted for new hires awaiting permanent license. Permanent license must be obtained within 90 days.
• BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start.

Preferred Certifications

• CCC: Certificate of Clinical Competency by American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
• Speak Out! Provider Credential (The Parkinson's Voice Project)
• MBCImP: Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile Registered Clinician (Northern Speech Services)
• LSVT Loud: Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Certification (LSVT Global)
• VitalStim/DINES Certification; VitalStim/Dynamic Integration of NMES and Exercise for Swallowing (Ciao Seminars)

Required Skills

• Ability to process information and problem-solve individually and within a team setting
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks appropriately and manage time well
• Ability to adhere to and maintain expertise regarding federal and state regulations, and specific carrier requirements
• Effective communicator, verbally and in writing, with patients, families, coworkers, physicians, and community members
