Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist 2 (SLP2) provides treatment to a wide variety of patients and works closely with the interdisciplinary team. In addition to standard SLP duties, the SLP2 is competent in performing instrumental assessments of swallowing including both MBS and FEES. Our focus is on providing high quality, compassionate care to our patients using research supported best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • FEES: Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow Competency as defined by Asante FEES Policy 400-PCS-Rehab-0627
  • The SLP2 will also provide weekend and holiday services to hospital patients on a rotating schedule.
  • The SLP2 is competent to mentor or instruct students or less experienced staff in this clinical assignment (Rehab).

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Master's degree from an SLP program or equivalent

Certification/Licensure

  • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start
  • SLP: Speech Language Pathologist licensed by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology
  • CCC: Certificate of Clinical Competency (ASHA)
  • MBSImP: Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile Registered Clinician (Northern Speech Services) with demonstrated competency in Asante's MBS procedure. (One time certification by Northern Speech Services satisfies requirement.)
