Outpatient Specialty Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapist

Position Title: Specialty Occupational Therapist

Additional Position Details: FTE: 1.000000 | Primarily Mon - Fri / 8AM - 5PM | Full -Time or Part -Time available


The Specialty Occupational Therapist provides specialty therapy services to particular populations of patients. Acts as lead therapist/specialist for one or more specialty programs by mentoring other therapists, providing input into program development, and marketing the program. Individuals may be assigned permanently, temporarily or simultaneously to other worksites.

Key Responsibilities

Highly proficient in the following skills:
  • Proactive testing.
  • Following department and published hand therapy protocols and precautions.
  • Advanced splinting skills.
  • Standardized tests such as ROM, sensory, and nerve testing.
  • Wrist assessment.
  • Soft tissue and joint mobilization, nerve glides and taping.
  • Edema and scar management

Position Qualifications

Experience

  • 2 years prior relevant Occupational Therapy experience in a hospital, home care, outpatient, or skilled nursing setting required.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy is required
  • Completion of the American Occupational Therapy National Exam required

Certification/Licensure

  • BLS:Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start
  • ODL: Oregon Driver's License with proof of safe driving record for the past 10 years and proof of insurance may be required

Appropriate specialty certifications

  • CHT (hand therapy)
  • Lymphedema Certification
  • ATP Certification
