Additional Position Details: FTE: 0.900000 | Full Time | 1st Shift - Days

Starting wage is $18.10 and up - based on qualifications and years of relevant experience. Plus, you will earn extra shift differentials for swing, night, and weekend hours:

  • $1.16 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
  • $2.00 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
  • $0.99 extra for working weekends

Position Summary

The Transporter provides patient and non-patient transportation, in collaboration with nursing staff and co-workers. Transporters work alongside nursing staff and lift-trained co-workers in coordination of lifting, repositioning and transportation for immobile, geriatric, handicapped and bariatric patients.

As a Transporter for Asante you will have the opportunity to:

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service by informing patients and families where the patient is being transported and estimated time of return
  • Exercise patience, understanding and compassion when working with patients and families
  • Promptly respond to pages and communicate when a transport is completed
  • Perform environmental safety checks when entering or leaving the patient's room
  • Communicate using key words and phrases to assure patients understand staff concerns for their safety and well-being
  • Respond to codes within the hospital in a prompt and quick manner

Qualifications

Education

  • High School diploma, preferred

Certifications

  • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start

Working Environment/Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis - such as transferring a patient in and out of a bed. The ability to bend, stretch, twist and perform other awkward physical movements is also required.
