FTE/Status: FTE: 0.9, Full-Time

Work Schedule: Variable Schedule Nights. This position will support both the Med Surg and ICU departments

Salary: Typical Starting Range is $17.74 to $22.18 (based on years of relevant experience)

As a CNA2 at Asante, you will have the opportunity to earn the following shift differentials:

  • $1.21 extra per hour for hours worked between 3:00pm-11:00pm
  • $2.05 extra per hour for hours worked between 11:00pm-7:00am
  • $1.05 extra per hour for hours worked on weekend shifts

In addition to the CNA role, this position will also be crossed trained to function as a Monitor Technician. The Monitor Technician is responsible for monitoring, documenting and interpreting cardiac rhythms for assigned patients on the unit under the direction of the RN, LPN, Physician or Physician Assistant. This is a highly administrative position in a fast-paced environment and responsibilities include the unit's clerical duties, transcription of orders, communication of information and requisition of supplies and equipment. Additional responsibilities include monitoring, documenting and interpreting EKG rhythms and/or hemodynamic lines; documenting and reporting EKG abnormalities, changes or concerns to the appropriate staff member.

What You Must Have As a CNA

  • CNA-2 certified by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) required upon start
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start

What You Must Have As a Monitor Technician

Education

  • Successful Completion of a Basic Cardiac Rhythms course and/or the ability to pass Asante's Basic Cardiac Rhythms test, required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (through education or experience in a health care setting), required
  • Successful completion of an Advanced Cardiac Rhythms course, preferred

PLEASE NOTE: As indicated in the Education requirements noted above, this position requires successful completion of a basic cardiac rhythms course and/or the ability to pass Asante's Basic Cardiac Rhythms test in order to qualify for the position and be forwarded for consideration. Applicants that have not taken the course through Asante will be asked to "challenge" Asante's test.

Experience

  • No previous experience as a Monitor Tech required. However, clerical and/or reception experience in a healthcare setting is highly preferred
  • One year or more of telemetry monitoring in an acute care setting and/or EMT experience also preferred

* If a qualified CNA candidate does not also currently have the qualifications for a Monitor Technician, they can start as a full-time CNA while they receive cross training until their successful completion of a Basic Cardiac Rhythms course and/or the ability to pass Asante's Basic Cardiac Rhythms test in order to qualify for the position.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis - such as transferring a patient in and out of a bed. The ability to bend, stretch, twist and perform other awkward physical movements is also required.
