POSITION SUMMARY

The Doula is responsible for providing continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and just after the childbirth experience. The Doula is part of a group that is available to patients as needed for support.

As a Doula for Asante, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with established standards, federal and state regulations, accreditation standards and Asante's mission, vision, and values
  • Provide physical, emotional and informational support to laboring mothers before, during and just after childbirth
  • Ensure compliance with hospital and department policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines
  • Work as a team player at all levels and supports hospital administration, management, and staff demonstrating excellent interpersonal and customer services skills
  • Support and promote infection control program, safety program, risk management program, staff development and education program and other organizational initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Prior experience attending births is required

Certifications

  • BLS : Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start

ONE of the following Doula Certifications is required:

  • Birth Doula Certification by DONA International
  • Certified Professional Birth Doula by to Labor International
  • Full Circle Doula Training Certification by the International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC)
  • Doula Certification from the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA)
  • Certified Professional Labor Doula by ProDoula
  • Birth & Bereavement certification by Stillbirthday University
  • Birth Doula certified by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA)
