Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor ATRMC (Lab)

FTE/Hours: FTE: 0.000001/ on-call
Salary: Typical starting range is $17.72 - $22.18/hour (based on years of relevant experience).You will receive an extra 15% for Flexible Workforce - plus extra shift differentials for swing, night, and weekend hours.

PLUS, extra shift differentials for swing, night, and weekend hours.
  • $1.27 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
  • $2.15 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
  • $1.10 extra for working weekends

The Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor contributes to the overall patient experience by using organizational and communication skills to receive and process laboratory specimens as specified by regulatory requirements and laboratory standard operating procedures. This is done through assessing requisition dates, specimen adequacy and acceptability to ensure accurate order entry and high-quality laboratory results.


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior education or demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology
  • 1 year of laboratory experience or a combination of education and or related experience in a healthcare setting providing knowledge of medical terminology is required
  • Specimen processing experience including esoteric reference lab specimen handling and packaging, preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience and/or knowledge of laboratory tests and /or laboratory ordering processes, preferred
  • College courses/credits toward advanced degree, especially science course work, preferred
  • Data entry, keyboarding experience and computer proficiency, preferred
  • While not required, the Medical Laboratory Assistant through the Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)is preferred.
