Position Summary

The NICU/pediatric Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides treatment to a wide variety of pediatric patients in the NICU, pediatric inpatient, and outpatient setting. The ideal candidate would have inpatient acute care infant or NICU experience including completing Modified Barium Swallow studies. Infant FEES experience would be welcomed.

Responsibilities of this position include:

• Working closely with the pediatric rehab team and NICU team to support premature and term infants and their families in our Level 3 NICU.
• Completing Modified Barium Swallow Studies for inpatient NICU and outpatient pediatric patients.
• Participating in multidisciplinary outpatient feeding team evaluations and providing treatment as indicated.
• Provision of outpatient feeding/swallowing treatment.
• Participation in occasional developmental evaluations for NICU rehab f/up clinic.

Qualifications

Education

• Master's degree from an SLP program or equivalent is required

Experience

• None outside of licensure required, however infant acute care experience is highly preferred
• Infant MBS Experience strongly preferred
• Infant Fees experience preferred

Licensure/Certifications

• SLP: Speech Language Pathologist licensed by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology required upon start
• BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start

Preferred Certifications

• CCC: Certificate of Clinical Competency by American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
• Speak Out! Provider Credential (The Parkinson's Voice Project)
• MBCImP: Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile Registered Clinician (Northern Speech Services)
• LSVT Loud: Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Certification (LSVT Global)
• VitalStim/DINES Certification; VitalStim/Dynamic Integration of NMES and Exercise for Swallowing (Ciao Seminars)

Required Skills

• Ability to process information and problem-solve individually and within a team setting.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks appropriately and manage time well.
• Ability to adhere to and maintain expertise regarding federal and state regulations, and specific carrier requirements.
• Effective communicator, verbally and in writing, with patients, families, coworkers, physicians, and community members.
