POSITION SUMMARY

The Wound Tech, under the direction of the Provider, RN, or LPN provides direct and indirect patient care, performs specific procedures, keeps the clinic in operational form, supports inpatient wound care nurses as needed, maintains quality controls and greets and assists patients and families. This role requires adept eye hand coordination, excellent knowledge retention and effective communication skills to address complex care with patients and their families in frequently stressful situations. This position also requires the ability to multi-task , prioritize actions and respond in an efficient manner to multiple needs.

What You'll Do

• Under provider and nursing oversight/direction, you will provide direct patient care for patients with wounds or burns and perform specific procedures as directed.
• Provide inpatient wound care support under the supervision of the WOCN or WCC RN.
• Assist in opening and preparing the clinic each day to receive patients; keeping the flow of patients and staff smooth and efficient; cleaning exam rooms after each patient encounter; and restocking rooms and supply cupboards as needed.
• Greet patients in a friendly manner, provide narrative care, and keep them informed of waiting times as necessary.
• Answer patient calls and triage calls to an RN or provider as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as required for the position

Experience

• 1 year patient care related experience is required (preferably in an advanced wound center setting and/or with transferring bariatric patients via a Hoyer lift)

Licensure/Certifications

• One of the following is required:
• Certified Nursing Assistant 2 (CNA2) certified by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN), or
• In lieu of certification, 2 years of current wound care experience including direct patient care
• BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start
