POSITION SUMMARY

The Grounds Maintenance Technician performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care and modifications of Asante grounds and landscapes. In this role, the Grounds Maintenance Tech provides various custodial services in exterior areas such as parking lots and structures as well as sidewalks, campus streets, and public spaces, including occasionally cleaning up bio-hazardous waste; oversees and maintains exterior fish ponds and water features, as well as minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs conducted on Asante-owned property; and in addition, performs seasonal tasks such as installing holiday lighting and banners, assembling exterior furniture and/or equipment, and snow/ice removal during winter weather conditions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position
  • 2 years grounds keeping or related experience is required - OR - an Associate's degree in Horticulture or a related field may be substituted for the two years of experience required
  • Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in planting, cultivating, and trimming a variety of types of trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers and grasses
  • Knowledge of proper operation and maintenance of tools, equipment, and machinery related to grounds keeping
  • Ability to prioritize job responsibilities and organize workload
  • Trained, or ability to be trained, in OR-OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens 1910.1030 requirements
  • Ability to follow specific instructions related to use/disposal/storage of chemical compounds

Licensure/Certifications

  • ODL: Possession of a valid Driver's License with proof of safe driving record for the past ten years and proof of insurance is required
  • CPAL: Commercial Pesticide Applicators License issued by the State of Oregon, preferred
