Additional Position Details:

The typical starting range is $17.74 and up - based on qualifications and years of relevant experience.

As a Unit Secretary at Asante, you will have the opportunity to earn the following shift differentials:

• $1.21 extra per hour for hours worked between 3:00pm-11:00pm
• $2.05 extra per hour for hours worked between 11:00pm-7:00am
• $1.05 extra per hour for hours worked on weekend shifts

POSITION SUMMARY

The Unit Secretary performs a variety of clerical, receptionist and administrative support functions for the nursing unit/department. They act as key liaison for the unit, supporting internal and external communication with a variety of people including patients, families, visitors, physicians and coworkers.

As a Unit Secretary you will have the opportunity to:

• Perform administrative tasks such as order entry, placing reports into patient's medical records, assisting with chart preparation for admissions, patient transfers, surgery and other related duties.
• Demonstrate strong computer skills using different software applications
• Facilitate workflow in the nursing units, communication of information and transcription of physicians' orders under the supervision of an RN
• Promote patient safety and comfort and actively participate in patient satisfaction
• Demonstrate advanced Responsive Observations knowledge base in practice of care
• Provide excellent communication between staff and patients

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Knowledge of medical terminology gained through education or experience in a health care setting required
• Associate's degree preferred

Experience

• Previous clerical experience providing knowledge of office procedures, office equipment and computer programs, typically gained through 2 years office experience, is required. Previous experience in a clinical capacity within the nursing unit that provides knowledge of unit policies, procedures and unit-specific clerical training may also be considered.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements

• This position requires the ability to stand or sit in the same location and may require stooping, climbing or lifting material or equipment that is less than 10 pounds.
