For this role, candidates at either the Certified Medical Assistant level or candidates with a CNA-2 certification (or, in lieu of CNA-2 certification, at least 2 years of current wound care experience including direct patient care), will be considered. Details on qualifications for both levels noted below.

POSITION SUMMARY

At the Advance Wound Care Center at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center (ARRMC), the Wound Care Tech works under the direction of the Provider, RN, or LPN providing direct and indirect patient care. In this role, the Wound Care Tech performs specific procedures; keeps the clinic in operational form; supports inpatient wound care nurses as needed; maintains quality controls; and greets and assists patients and families. This position requires adept eye hand coordination, excellent knowledge retention, and effective communication skills to address complex care with patients and their families in frequently stressful situations.

The Advanced Wound Center has a dynamic team who are passionate about the work they do. This position is best suited for an individual who is a strong team member, enjoys wound care, developing new skills and is comfortable with a physically active work environment. The clinic is open Monday-Friday and closed major holidays.

What You'll Do

  • Greet patients in a friendly manner, provide narrative care, and keep them informed of waiting times as necessary
  • Answer patient calls and triage calls to an RN or provider as appropriate
  • Assist in opening and preparing the clinic each day to receive patients; keeping the flow of patients and staff smooth and efficient; cleaning exam rooms after each patient encounter; and restocking rooms and supply cupboards as needed
  • Under provider and nursing oversight/direction, you will provide direct patient care for patients with wounds or burns and perform specific procedures as directed

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as required for the position

Preferred Experience and Abilities

  • One or more years in an advanced wound center setting
  • Experience transferring bariatric patients via a Hoyer lift
  • Current knowledge and skills appropriate to advanced wound therapy
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Medical terminology typically gained through an approved course or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated computer knowledge through specific education and/or experience including spreadsheets, database, word processing, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Licensure/Certifications

  • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start for both levels

For the Certified Medical Assistant level:

  • CCMA: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - OR - equivalent Medical Assisting Certification

For the CNA-2 or Wound Care experienced level:

  • CNA-2: Certified Nursing Assistant 2 certified by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) - OR - in lieu of certification, 2 years of current wound care experience including direct patient care is required
  • This level also requires at least 1 year of patient care related experience (preferably in an advanced wound center setting or experience transferring bariatric patients via a Hoyer lift)
