Position Summary

The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training and supervising the Hospice volunteers. A Volunteer Coordinator must have strong communication and management skills as they work with a diverse group of individuals and Hospice team members and is considered a member of the regulatory IDT.

As a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator for Asante, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and maintain relationships within the community for the purpose of disseminating information about hospice and generating interest in the volunteer program.
  • Develop and implement orientation, training programs, and on-going education for volunteers; involve volunteer participation in development and improvement of such programs through strategic planning as well as other activities and events as evidence of volunteer participation.
  • Ensure all the required elements of applying to become a hospice volunteer will take place including: Initial interview, criminal background check and attendance of the Hospice Volunteer training.
  • Participate in the care planning process of the IDT and facilitate communication between IDT members and Volunteers to include developing and implementing tools and programs with members of IDT and ensuring the volunteer involvement in the implementation/ongoing development of the patients individualized care plan.
  • Document Volunteer records in a timely manner in compliance federal and state regulations, reimbursement guidelines and agency policies and procedures.



  • Bachelor's Degree in business, religion, theology, or healthcare related field, preferred


  • Healthcare, Hospice, or related volunteer coordination experience is required


  • DL: Valid Driver's License, proof of insurance and verification of safe driving record for up to 10 years is required
  • CT: Certification in Thanatology, preferred
