POSITION SUMMARY

The Patient Access Supervisor contributes to Asante's operations by planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining programs, policies, and management systems in all facets of the Department. This includes working closely with staff on collaborative functions required to effectively gather information needed for billing and collection; serving as a role model for ethical management behavior and promoting an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Asante.

As the Patient Access Supervisor for Emergency Services, you will have the opportunity to:

Build and manage the workforce based on organizational goals, budget considerations, and staffing needs while ensuring employees are appropriately recruited, selected, evaluated, and rewarded

  • Hire, supervise, evaluate, mentor, and counsel staff regarding performance, conduct, attendance and other related matters
  • Ensure a staffing configuration, inclusive of a contingency plan, so needs of the department and the organization are met through day-to-day monitoring of activities and collaborative planning for projects
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and administer the following: competency assessments, staff orientations, ongoing education programs, and development courses in all areas of responsibility
  • Develop plans, goals, and implementation strategies in support of the organizational mission, vision, and business objectives
  • Encourage creative tension and differences of opinions; anticipate and take steps to prevent counterproductive confrontations; manage and resolve conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner while fostering teamwork among staff
  • Inspire and foster a team commitment, spirit, pride, and trust to include facilitating cooperation and motivating team members to accomplish group goals
  • Develop the ability of others to perform and contribute to the organization by providing regular feedback, coaching, mentoring, and developmental opportunities to learn through formal and informal methods
  • Hold self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results to include determining objectives, setting priorities, delegating work, accepting responsibility for mistakes, and complying with established control systems and rules

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Associate Degree in Business, Healthcare or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience, is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of progressively more responsible hospital-based experience in patient registration or patient access, volunteer services, guest services, facilities, or related field is required
  • Experience and/or background in Emergency Services or emergency department environment, preferred

Certifications

  • CHAM: Certified Healthcare Access Manager, preferred
