Staff Development Specialist (Nursing Professional Dev)

Additional Position Details: Pediatric specific role. Primary campus is ARRMC, with travel and communication between all 3 hospitals is expected. Pediatric in-patient experience required for this position.

Staff Development Specialist - Position Overview

Nursing professional development (NPD) is a specialized nursing practice that facilitates professional role development and growth of nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare personnel along the continuum of novice to expert.

NPD is looking for a collaborative, flexible, organized, personable, and dynamic educator looking to support and mentor nurses and clinical team members that care for patients in Pediatrics at ARRMC.

Position Details: Travel and coverage among all Asante hospitals will be required. Pediatric experience required for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • BSN or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Master's degree in a nursing or applicable field, preferred

Experience

  • Practice equivalent of 3 years current experience as a full-time RN in acute care setting required
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching/learning principles as well as educational concepts and processes required

Other Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to assess current knowledge base of learners, to apply appropriate adult learning theories, and to independently organize and follow-through with educational programs/projects
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Basic computer skills required (Word/PowerPoint/Excel)
  • Ability to work in a team setting with collaboration, flexibility, motivation, and enthusiasm
  • Ability to lead and manage team/group projects
  • Ability to reinforce and motivate desired learner behavior
  • Experience in nursing leadership, performance improvement, project management, professional development, preferred

Licensure/Certifications

  • RN: Registered Nurse licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing. Will consider candidates with RN licensure from out of state - but Oregon license required by start date.
  • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start
  • ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support certified from American Heart Association (AHA), preferred
  • PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support, preferred
  • NRP: Neonatal Resuscitation Program, preferred

The following advanced certification(s) relevant to this area of specialty are preferred:

ADD IN ANY ADVANCED CERTIFICATIONS RELEVANT TO THE AREA OF SPECIALTY FOR THE POSTED POSITION (as listed on the 516/538 RN job description for the applicable unit/dept)
