Position Summary

The Health Educator is responsible for assessing the individual and the corporate group's level of readiness to change and developing appropriate wellness programs that result in the desired outcome. In this role, the Health Educator acts as facilitator of change for assigned clients; empowers clients to set their own health and wellness goals (or provides support for a client striving to adhere to a treatment plan from a healthcare practitioner); offers encouragement as clients make progress; and assists the Health Promotion Manager with the overall marketing and implementation of Health Promotion Services to the workforce population.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Health Promotions, Health Education, Nursing, or the equivalent in education and experience is required

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of related experience in a health or wellness field
• Knowledge and experience in delivering lifestyle interventions such as tobacco cessation, weight management physical activity and stress reduction
• Familiar with coaching concepts such as motivational interviewing

Certifications

• BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start
• ODL: Oregon Driver's License with proof of safe driving record for the past 10 years required

Preferred Licensure/Certifications

• Health & Wellness Coach certification from a National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) approved program
• Current NCCA-accredited certification in fitness, nutrition, wellness, or a related field
• Tobacco cessation certified facilitator
